On the way to the Shrine in Walsingham, pligrims stop at the Slipper Chapel,
where they remove their shoes..

time for a prayer... ...a moment of rest...

...before walking the last mile barefoot.

Around the streets of Walsingham:

On the left you can see the famous red door of the accomodation office
and in the distance the archway that leads into the shrine grounds.

The Bull Inn at night. The Bull Inn has been on this site,
close to the original 1061 shrine (in the Abbey) for over 700 years.

In the Shrine Grounds:

Looking through the archway at the old refectory which is no longer there.
The famous stairs on which, over the years, hundreds of thousands of pilgrims have queued for their meals.
Queues in which many first meetings were made and long friendships have been formed.

and now...

The New Refectory, replacing the old refectory, comes complete with a covered pathway, which will
(no doubt) replace the famous stairs. So we can still queue for our meals, meeting fellow Christians
from far flung places but now keep dry if it rains.
